I grew up in a big old stone house in Wyncote, PA, in the suburbs of Philly. There were 4 kids and two parents in here, plus a lot of neighborhood kids hanging around. It was the 1950’s! We took family trips in the Mercury station wagon to New England, Florida, Yellowstone Park, and the Canadian Rockies. We stayed and ate at Howard Johnson’s Lodges, as much as possible.
Herr's Indexing Service
My mother ran a business called Herr’s Indexing service out of her bedroom the whole time I was growing up. Now my sister has taken it over. Same high quality service as ever! “Fast, accurate, and reliable” is the company motto, since 1944! If you need a back-of-the-book index for your book, click on the pictures to check out the website.

We had sports in every season: football and baseball on Hallinger Field, basketball across the street on Kelley Courts, swimming at Bell’s Pool, tennis at the Herr’s court, volleyball at Heller’s house, and all-night ping-pong marathons in our basement. We even organized our own Olympics one year.
College
I sat on the floor and listened to a lot of scratchy record albums. That’s about it.
Rock and Roll

I played piano and wrote songs for a band called “Accomac.” We did all original music, and played around Philly in the 1970’s.

Because of an interest in Transcendental Meditation, I moved to the town of Fairfield, Iowa. Been here for 40 years. Nice little town!

There is a 17 mile loop trail around the town for biking and walking. I helped create it, as a volunteer!

I’ve been on many travel excursions with my significant other/travel partner Carol. Cruises to the Caribbean, Europe, and Alaska. Camping in a minivan in Colorado and Western States. Flights to Hawaii. And several trips in a cozy roomette on the Amtrak California Zephyr to San Francisco.
